29th Ball of Stars - “A Night of Magic”, to Benefit Pediatric Research

During the Foundation of stars' annual benefit Ball, the most important fundraising event of its kind for pediatric research, 14 researchers received bursaries and awards of excellence,

During the evening, the Foundation presented its new image - a dynamic image that reflects its mission effectively: to support children's health research in Québec in order to give our children the chance to grow up healthy.

under the honorary presidency of Pierre Karl Péladeau, President & CEO of Quebecor, Calin Rovinescu, President & CEO of Air Canada and Michael Sabia, President & CEO of the “Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec. “

The evening evolved in the presence of Québec Labour Minister, Lise Thériault, and Health and Social Services Minister, Dr. Yves Bolduc. Through the magic of video, a pre-recorded message was received from Céline Dion appealing to the generosity of guests in order to further progress in the advancement of pediatric research.
The evening ended on a magical note with a spectacular performance by magician Luc Langevin and with Michel Lanteigne, the Foundation's Chairman of the Board whom unveiled a cheque in the amount of $1,050,600. Mr. Lanteigne announced, that, thanks to the funds received and distributed by the Foundation to the researchers of the four pediatric centres in Québec (the Montreal Children's Hospital, the "CHU Sainte-Justine", the "Centre hospitalier universitaire de Québec" and the "Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke"), the Foundation will be able to achieve its mission and continue to support research projects that help save lives.
About the foundation of stars
The foundation of stars supports children's health research in Quebec to give our children the chance to grow up healthy. The foundation is recognized as the most important source of non-governmental funding for pediatric research in Quebec. Since 1977, the Foundation has distributed more than $64.5 million to pediatric research centres at the following hospitals: the Montreal Children's Hospital, the "CHU Sainte-Justine", the "Centre hospitalier universitaire de Québec" and the "Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke".
